Master the Science

MasterTheScience Everyone knows that kids love game characters and that with good teaching, kids love science, math, engineering and technology.  Through a unique partnership between Nintendo of America, Inc., the National Institute of Aerospace (NIA) and Nortel LearniT teachers can now take advantage of an in-school program that incorporates science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) themes into activity units for elementary and middle school students.

Free lesson plans allow students to "Master the Science…Master The Game," by joining with Pokémon Diamond and Pokémon Pearl in exploring the dimensions of time and space.  The collaboration provides an opportunity for children to learn 21st century science using 21st century tools with characters they know.

Sharon Bowers, project representative and Educator in Residence for the National Institute of Aerospace (NIA), has informed us that the response to the site has been terrific.  Featured interviews with experts are of particular interest.  These experts provided answers to student and teacher questions generated from the lessons on the site.  The list of experts includes a physics professor, a scientist from the Office of Naval Research, an astronomer from Goddard Space Flight Center, several NASA scientists and engineers, and a graduate student from Georgia Tech working at NIA.

Be sure to check it out.
